The CX5120-0100 is an embedded PC manufactured by Beckhoff as part of the CX Embedded PC Systems series. The device consolidates CPU, memory, and communication interfaces into a DIN-rail form factor so it can execute PLC logic, motion sequences, and HMI tasks inside electrical cabinets. In industrial automation lines, it functions as the primary control platform that bridges real-time fieldbus traffic with higher-level Ethernet networks. Its compact layout lets one unit manage control, visualization, and network exchange without requiring a separate rack-mounted computer.
At its core is an Intel Atom E3815 processor with a single computing core clocked at 1.46 GHz. The system carries 2 GB DDR3-RAM for program variables, while 256 MB of dedicated graphics memory supports a DVI-I display output with resolutions up to 1920 × 1200 pixels. Application files and operating system images are stored by means of a CFast slot together with a MicroSD slot, which allows removable media to be used for backups or system recovery. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports arranged as 2 × RJ45 sockets support 10/100/1000 Mbit/s communication to remote I/O, controllers, or supervisory PCs. An integrated UPS can maintain operation briefly during an input power interruption, and the electronics operate from a 24 V DC supply.
The housing measures 122 × 100 × 92 mm, which helps the unit fit into shallow control enclosures and leaves room for adjacent DIN-rail devices.
