The CX5130-0155 is an embedded PC manufactured by Beckhoff and positioned in the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Designed for cabinet installation alongside EtherCAT or other fieldbus terminals, the unit provides deterministic PLC and motion control for conveyors, packaging machines, and process skids. Its interfaces allow direct connection to distributed I/O, while onboard graphics support panel-mounted visualization. By combining the CPU, memory, storage slots, and communication ports in a compact housing, the device eliminates the need for separate industrial PCs and controller modules.
At the heart of the controller is an Intel Atom E3827 processor with two cores operating at 1.75 GHz, allowing concurrent execution of control tasks and user interface threads. System memory consists of 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 256 MB graphics section drives the DVI-I output. Two Gigabit Ethernet channels are presented through two RJ45 sockets supporting 10/100/1000 Mbit/s for real-time fieldbus or plant network connectivity. Nonvolatile storage can be expanded with a CFast card or a microSD card. During normal operation, the electronics draw up to 14 W, and a built-in uninterruptible power supply keeps the CPU powered for one second to complete data writes if the supply rail loses power. Internal isolation withstands 500 V between the supply and logic domains, helping protect control circuitry from electrical disturbances.
The housing measures 142 × 100 × 92 mm, allowing direct mounting next to terminal blocks on a DIN rail. The electronics operate from a single 24 V DC source, so no additional converters are required inside the panel. The four front-mounted USB 2.0 ports supplying 500 mA each support service drives, barcode scanners, input devices, and external storage. Their accessible placement allows peripherals to be connected without removing the controller from its installed position. The integrated graphics processor delivers a maximum DVI-I resolution of 1920 × 1200 for touch screens or large operator stations. This dedicated graphics capability supports smooth visualization while leaving the processor available for control logic, communications, and motion tasks.
