The CX5130-0142 is an embedded PC manufactured by Beckhoff for the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Acting as the central controller in industrial automation cells, it mounts on a DIN rail beside EtherCAT or Bus Terminals and executes PLC logic, motion sequences, and HMI services without requiring the footprint of a panel-mounted industrial PC. The unit runs the TwinCAT 2 NC PTP Runtime on an Intel Atom E3827 processor clocked at 1.75 GHz.
The dual-core architecture uses two cores to separate real-time tasks from background services. Application data and user programs reside in 4 GB of DDR3 RAM. During a power loss, the integrated UPS provides a one-second reserve that allows 1 MB of persistent data to be written to the CFast card. Upstream networks connect through two RJ45 Ethernet ports that support transmission rates of 10, 100, or 1000 Mbit/s for fieldbus or standard TCP/IP traffic. Maximum internal power demand is limited to 14 W. A rigidly mounted power supply delivering 24 V DC (-15%/+20%) keeps the module within its required input range. Dielectric strength of 500 V isolates the logic circuits from the power supply, while an I/O terminal current of 2 A feeds attached signal blocks. The front connector set also includes power contacts rated for 10 A to energize downstream terminals.
An IP20 housing protects against accidental contact with hazardous internal components and is suitable for installation inside a control cabinet. The aluminum enclosure measures 142 × 100 × 92 mm, leaving room on either side for terminal slices without exceeding the depth of a typical cabinet. The front panel provides four USB 2.0 ports rated at 500 mA each for connecting service tools, scanners, or removable storage devices. These interfaces are positioned for direct access after the controller and its adjacent terminals have been mounted on the DIN rail.
