The CX2030-0141 embedded PC from Beckhoff belongs to the CX Embedded PC Systems series. It combines control hardware and PLC runtime in a DIN-rail package so that motion, logic, and HMI tasks run on the same platform inside a control cabinet. The unit operates as the central controller in industrial automation lines, executing TwinCAT 2 PLC code and forwarding deterministic process data to local I/O terminals through internal fieldbus interfaces.
The onboard Intel Core i7 2610UE runs at 1.5 GHz, and its dual-core design allows one core to handle deterministic real-time threads while the other handles visualization or background services. The unit includes 2 GB of DDR3 RAM for the operating system, user program, and cyclic variables, providing headroom for medium-sized machines. Electrical loading stays within 27 W under maximum computational demand, and the unit accepts a control voltage of 24 V DC, allowing direct connection to cabinet power buses. Its housing carries an IP20 rating, limiting installation to dry, shielded enclosures. Nonvolatile data such as recipes are stored in 128 kB of NOVRAM, and a dielectric strength of 500 V separates the logic circuits from the supply.
In a compact form factor measuring 144 x 99 x 91 mm, the controller integrates multiple field interfaces. Two gigabit ports in a 2 x RJ45 10/100/1000 Mbit/s configuration support segmented machine networks or parallel network access without an external switch. Up to 2048 bytes of input data and 2048 bytes of output data are exchanged each cycle through the K-bus, enabling high-density terminal strings. Four service receptacles rated 4 x USB 2.0 500 mA each supply power for diagnostics, wireless adapters, or removable storage. An Intel HD Graphics 3000 engine drives local panels, while the runtime environment coordinates deterministic tasks alongside Windows services without resource conflicts.
