Product Description:

The CX5020-0122 is built by Beckhoff as a compact controller that operates efficiently from a DIN-rail mount in a horizontal position with 30 mm space requirement for proper ventilation. It functions on Microsoft Windows 2009 and enables motion control functions through TwinCAT 2 NC-PTP in runtime.

The CX5020-0122 control box operates with an Intel Atom Z530 processor that runs at 1.6 GHz and it possess a built-in 512 MB RAM but can be customized to 1 GB. It comes with a pre-installed 128 MB compact flash memory for storage that is extended by additional storage when required. The CX5020 control box’s E-Bus interface integration enables direct connection with EtherCAT terminals. It has dual RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet sockets with four USB 2.0 ports and one DVI-D digital monitor output port that delivers resolutions up to 2560x1440 pixels. The CX5020 control box includes diagnostic LEDs to track power supply status together with bus condition and flash operation status. The device stores time and date information accurately through its built-in clock based on backup battery power. It needs 24 V DC power source within a tolerance span of -15% to +20% and delivers 2 A of current to I/O terminals through its power supply that maintains an optimal power loss below 12.5 W.

The CX5020-0122 control box has a dielectric strength rating of 500 Veff and features a dimension of 100 mm in height alongside 106 mm in width and 92 mm in depth while carrying 575g weight. Its protective rating is listed as IP 20 and operates without a fan for cooling while gives continuous operations without the need of maintenance. The CX5020 controller provides one-second uninterrupted power supply for protecting persistent application variables.

Symptom / LED pattern Likely Cause (what it means) Recommended Corrective Action
PWR LED dark after power-up 24 V DC absent or below –15 % tolerance Measure cabinet supply, replace blown fuse, re-tighten spring terminals, then repower
K-BUS ERR LED – continuous rapid flashing EMC disturbance or unstable 24 V rail Check for over/undervoltage transients, add filters or ferrites, then power-cycle the PC
K-BUS ERR LED – 3 slow pulses K-bus command error (no Bus Terminal or a defective one) Insert first terminal or halve the terminal stack until the bad KL/EL terminal is located and replaced
K-BUS ERR LED – 4 pulses / arg 0 Break directly after the power-supply terminal Verify that Bus End Terminal 9010 is present and seated
K-BUS ERR LED – 4 pulses / arg n Line break behind Bus Terminal n Inspect wiring between terminals n and n + 1; reseat or replace damaged parts
K-BUS ERR LED – 5 pulses / arg n Register-communication error with Bus Terminal n Exchange the terminal at position n, then reboot controller
K-BUS ERR LED – 6 pulses (0 / 1 / 8) CPU initialisation or internal data error Perform a full power-cycle; if the blink code repeats, reflash firmware or replace CPU module
K-BUS ERR LED – 7 pulses / arg 0 Configured vs. actual process-image lengths mismatch Re-scan terminals in TwinCAT System Manager and download corrected mapping
TC LED red TwinCAT runtime in Stop (PLC crash, watchdog, licence fault) Open TwinCAT on engineering PC, review log, fix PLC code/licence, switch state back to Run
HDD LED solid red at boot Compact-Flash card missing or corrupted Reseat CF card; run disk check from maintenance PC; replace CF if LED stays red
