The CX1900-0013 is an embedded PC module manufactured by Beckhoff as part of the CX Embedded PC Systems series. It functions as a compact automation computer that hosts visualization software and network services required for machine control. By deploying predetermined software images and communication components, the device provides a centralized platform for data exchange between field devices, supervisory systems, and local operator interfaces on the plant floor.

The unit ships with the Windows CE.NET operating system, so real-time tasks run on a lightweight kernel optimized for embedded hardware. Application code and configuration data are stored in 64 MB of non-volatile memory provided by a CompactFlash Card, allowing quick image replacement during maintenance. For managed code applications, the integrated .NET Compact Framework is available, while web-based diagnostics are handled by the built-in HTTP/FTP server. Classic ASP pages can also be hosted, giving browser clients direct access to machine parameters without external gateways. These software components keep data storage, web access, and managed applications on one embedded platform.

Remote maintenance and enterprise integration are supported through DCOM, dial-in RAS access, and an RDP client that mirrors the desktop to supervisory PCs. For platform-independent messaging, SOAP client and server components are included, facilitating XML-based exchange with MES or cloud services. Local visualization runs from the preinstalled HMI Image, which can be rendered within IE 6.0 for touchscreen panels. Discovery and control on mixed-vendor networks are enabled by UPnP Control Point services and the embedded UPnP Device Host, allowing quick identification of the controller by higher-level applications without manual addressing.
