Beckhoff manufactures the CX2030-0100-1002 within its CX Embedded PC Systems series. This DIN-rail-mountable embedded PC combines CPU resources, fieldbus interfaces, and local I/O power distribution so it can function as the central controller in machine cells or building automation panels. By hosting real-time control software, it replaces separate PLC, motion, and visualization hardware and streamlines cabinet layouts in industrial automation projects. The DIN-rail format also suits control cabinets where space is limited and direct integration with terminal modules is required.

The unit runs on a dual-core Intel Core i7-2610UE at 1.5 GHz, providing deterministic multitasking for logic, motion, and HMI threads. It includes 2 GB DDR3 RAM for program code and variable data, and an internal CFast slot, which is not supplied, can hold the operating system because no factory image is preinstalled. Networking is handled by two RJ45 ports with 10/100/1000 Mbit/s support, allowing separation between fieldbus traffic and supervisory networks. Four USB 2.0 host ports deliver 500 mA each for service tools or touch displays. Control voltage is provided through a 24 V DC feed, and separate spring terminals route 2 A to the attached I/O terminals and up to 10 A through the power contacts so the slice electronics and field loads can share a single supply.

Total consumption tops out at 27 W, enabling fanless operation inside shallow enclosures that match its compact 144 × 99 × 91 mm housing. The motherboard traces withstand a dielectric strength of 500 V between supply and ground, which helps raise immunity to transient overvoltage on industrial power rails. For nonvolatile process counters, the device integrates 128 kB of NOVRAM, and 128 MB of dedicated graphics memory keeps user interfaces responsive without borrowing system RAM. An integrated DVI-I output driven by Intel HD Graphics 3000 supports detailed diagnostics and local visualization on external displays.
