The CX2020-0111 is an embedded PC manufactured by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. It combines an Intel-based processor platform with integrated fieldbus interfaces so the unit can execute PLC logic, motion control, and HMI tasks directly on a DIN rail. By running TwinCAT 2 PLC Runtime under Windows Embedded Compact 7, the device bridges standard IT resources and deterministic control, making it useful for machine builders who want a compact controller that can host distributed I/O and drive networks.

Central processing is handled by an Intel Celeron 827E that operates at 1.4 GHz on a single core, giving deterministic response for typical automation workloads. The processor is paired with 2 GB DDR3-RAM, which holds the operating system, user program, and real-time data tables. A shared graphics buffer of 128 MB works with Intel HD Graphics to render local HMI screens without an add-on card. Two gigabit Ethernet adapters provided through 2 × RJ45 10/100/1000 Mbit/s sockets separate machine networks from the plant backbone or allow redundant ring topologies. Peak thermal demand remains low because the platform draws only 21 W, so it can be cooled passively in a control cabinet. NOVRAM of 128 kB preserves critical variables during power loss, and the unit has four USB 2.0 ports rated at 500 mA each for service tools or removable media.

The housing measures 144 × 99 × 91 mm, permitting dense mounting alongside I/O terminals while still withstanding a dielectric strength of 500 V between supply and earth. A regulated 24 V DC input feeds the internal power rails and the optional CX-bus modules attached on the right side. Video is provided through a DVI-I interface that supports a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1200, letting the controller drive a widescreen operator panel directly. Integrated graphics handles local display output, so no external video card is required.
