The CX1030-0120 Embedded PC of Beckhoff is part of the company's product line under CX Series and is well-suited for industrial automation environments with high demands on reliability and scalability. Its foundation is an Intel® Pentium® M processor running at 1.8 GHz for efficient single-core performance in automate- on applications. The unit offers 256 MB DDR RAM; ex factory, it can be expanded to 1 GB in order to extend the memory capacity. Storage is achieved through a Compact Flash slot and comes with 128 MB of on-board memory, so additional expansion will be quite simple if it proves to be required.

The CX1030-0120 is installed with two interfaces of the type 2 x RJ45 10/100 Mbit/s and supported by an integrated switch. Therefore, it is possible to easily connect the device into industrial networks. A cooling module with fan cartridges is used to efficiently cool the unit. These cartridges are provided with speed control and double ball bearing fans for optimal thermal management. For quick maintenance, fan cartridges are also very easy to replace. All diagnostic LEDs offer the user direct feedback on power, LAN link/activity, TwinCAT status, and flash access; so also, the status of the system appears for a glance.

The CX1030-0120 is upgraded using the Windows Embedded Standard 2009, where the TwinCAT software is not integrated. The connectivity is available through the 16-bit ISA system bus and, therefore, uses E-bus or K-bus for input/output communications to ensure it can seamlessly be integrated with other systems. Power supply is through the system bus and therefore ensured with compatible power supply modules. The CX1030-0120 has a maximum power consumption of 32 W and is both energy efficient and power strong in industrial automation applications.
