The CX2030-0113 is an embedded PC module from Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. It serves as a DIN-rail-mountable controller that links fieldbus I/O with deterministic motion logic, giving machine builders a compact platform for PLC, NC, and HMI tasks on the plant floor. Its architecture combines an industrial Intel processor, onboard storage, and multiple communication interfaces, allowing the unit to replace traditional rack PCs in control cabinets while reducing wiring and saving space in distributed automation.
The Intel Core i7-2610UE processor offers two physical cores operating at 1.5 GHz, allowing real-time PLC sequences and motion commands to run in parallel. The controller carries 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 128 kB NOVRAM segment secures remanent variables during a power loss. Network integration relies on two RJ45 ports supporting 10/100/1000 Mbit/s, which can separate machine and plant networks. The controller has four USB 2.0 ports rated at 500 mA for service tools and backup drives. Even under maximum load, power consumption remains below 27 W, reducing the cooling demand inside the enclosure. TwinCAT 2 NC-I Runtime supports CNC positioning, while the Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU shares 128 MB of system memory for HMI visualization.
Primary power is supplied at 24 V DC, allowing the module to use the same low-voltage rail as other equipment in a standard control cabinet. Application data and the operating system are stored on a CFast card with a minimum capacity of 40 GB, leaving space for log files and recipe archives. The housing measures 144 × 99 × 91 mm, so the controller and adjoining I/O terminals can fit within narrow panel layouts. A dielectric strength rating of 500 V protects the electronics from transient voltage differences between connected field circuits. The system boots into Windows Embedded Standard 7 P (32-bit), providing a familiar operating environment that remains compatible with Beckhoff development tools.
