The CX1020-N060 is an interface expansion module produced by Beckhoff as part of the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Installed between a CX1020 CPU unit and its power supply, the module adds a dedicated Ethernet channel so the controller stack can link to plant networks, fieldbus couplers, or supervisory PCs. By supplying this communication path inside the compact CX assembly, it supports decentralized I/O exchange, motion coordination, and HMI connectivity in automated production lines.

The module interfaces to the CPU through the Enhanced PC104 Bus, a board-to-board connector that forwards power, address, and data lines without external cabling. Its front panel offers a single network socket described as 1 x RJ45, which is internally linked to a 1 x Ethernet 10/100 Mbit controller so existing 10 Mbit or 100 Mbit segments can be accessed without protocol converters. Electrical protection is limited to an IP20 rating, indicating finger-safe construction for cabinets but no sealing against liquids.
