The CX2550-0010 is a removable-media accessory produced by Beckhoff for the CX Embedded PC Systems series. It adds a dedicated CFast interface so the embedded PC can boot, log, or archive data on industrial flash storage without occupying the built-in motherboard slots. By installing this module, a control cabinet PC gains field-replaceable mass storage that suits the temperature and vibration conditions common in machine controllers and production cells. Because the storage is accessible from the module itself, media exchange can be handled without opening the computer housing or disturbing internal connectors.
Card handling requires a release travel of 4 mm, which means the carrier must move that distance before the card can be gripped. When fully inserted, the card sits flush with the housing, so no edge protrudes that could catch wiring or interfere with cabinet door closure. The card face remains protected within the enclosure profile, which helps reduce accidental contact in crowded cabinets. Extraction uses a push/push mechanism; the same press that unlatches the card also prepares it for reseating. The host controller must be switched off during installation or removal to prevent unexpected write cycles. If the internal CX motherboard slot already contains two storage modules, the onboard port is disabled to maintain signal integrity.
The expansion accepts up to 2 additional memory modules and is intended as a CFast slot module, so it is used with high-speed SATA-based CFast cards rather than legacy CompactFlash media. Mounting is on the right side of the CX rack, placing the media door next to the power section for unobstructed access. This arrangement keeps removable storage at the rack exterior while leaving the main controller hardware in place during routine media changes.
