The CX9010-0002 is an embedded PC manufactured by Beckhoff as part of the CX Embedded PC Systems series. It serves as a compact control platform for machine builders who need deterministic PLC logic and coordinated motion in a small DIN-rail form factor. TwinCAT NC and PLC runtimes come pre-installed, allowing the unit to execute real-time axis control, process sequencing, and data collection directly on the plant floor. An E-bus connector on the side lets the controller attach to modular Beckhoff I/O terminals so that field signals can be processed without external gateways.

Computation is handled by a 533 MHz Intel IXP420 processor that combines ARM core logic with network acceleration for industrial Ethernet protocols. System memory consists of 128 MB of SDRAM for variable storage and program execution, while a soldered 32 MB flash module retains the operating system and user project when supply power is removed. Non-volatile NOVRAM with 128 kB is also present for cyclic data backup without battery support. Two independent Ethernet interfaces, presented as 2 x RJ45, allow separation of control traffic from plant IT networks or support redundant ring topologies. These resources also let the controller host visualization pages, pass process data to SCADA, and manage coordinated motion tasks at the same time.

Electrical supply is a single 24 VDC line, and the device consumes only 6.5 W, which simplifies cabinet thermal design and supports UPS buffering during brownouts. The housing measures 59 × 100 × 91 mm, so it fits into shallow enclosures while still permitting side-mounted terminal expansion. Internal circuitry withstands a dielectric stress of 500 Vrms between isolated sections, supporting installation next to noisy power electronics. The I/O terminal segment may be loaded with up to 2 A, and the unit omits integrated DVI and USB ports to conserve width on the rail. External visualization is handled through Ethernet connections.
