The CX2030-0143 embedded PC is a modular controller produced by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Serving as the central CPU in a DIN-rail automation cabinet, the device combines PC technology with PLC, motion, and visualization tasks by running the TwinCAT 2 NC-I Runtime. In typical machine cells it replaces separate PLCs and IPCs, allowing deterministic control, HMI hosting, and fieldbus routing in a single compact unit. This consolidation lowers cabinet space and wiring overhead.

At its core, an Intel Core i7 2610UE, 1.5 GHz, Dual-Core processor executes the real-time kernel, while a 2 GB DDR3-RAM array holds the operating system, user code, and buffered data. The Intel HD Graphics 3000 engine shares 128 MB of memory to drive diagnostic HMI screens. Retentive variables are preserved across power events in a 128 kB NOVRAM. Two independent Ethernet channels, 2 x RJ45, 10/100/1000 Mbit/s each, support fieldbus master tasks and IT connectivity. For service and peripherals, 4 x USB 2.0, 500 mA, Type A sockets are provided. The controller accepts a 24 V DC (-15%/+20%) supply and draws no more than 27 W under full load, a figure that eases power budgeting for compact cabinets. Internal isolation rated at 500 V dielectric strength reduces the risk of transient damage.

A footprint of 144 x 99 x 91 mm fits easily beside I/O terminals, while the aluminum housing uses cabinet airflow for heat dissipation. The IP20 rating indicates finger-safe construction without seals, suitable for closed control enclosures. At 1165 g, the module adds little mass to panel assemblies yet provides sufficient thermal inertia. The compact housing supports use in control cabinets with limited DIN-rail space.
