The CX1100-0012 is a Beckhoff power supply and I/O interface module within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Installed at the base of a CX controller stack, it routes incoming DC power to the embedded PC and forwards K-bus signals. This allows it to bridge the controller and the modular terminal blocks that handle process signals in automated machinery.

The module accepts a supply voltage of 24 V DC and draws up to 3.5 W, so the heat load inside a control cabinet remains low. A board-mounted fuse rated at 4 A protects downstream electronics against overcurrent events, while the internal insulation system withstands test pulses of 500 Veff to help prevent breakdown between primary and secondary circuits. For field wiring, the unit uses a Cage-Clamp adapter terminal, providing vibration-proof connections that can be released without tools. On its outgoing side, the integrated power stage supplies up to 1.75 A to the K-bus, allowing a substantial number of digital or analog I/O terminals to be powered directly from the same rail. Three front-panel LEDs marked PWR, I/O Run, and I/O Err provide status feedback during startup and operation.

With a housing size of 42 × 109 × 92 mm, the unit fits on a DIN rail without exceeding the depth of neighboring terminal blocks. The front face carries a FSTN, 2 × 16 chars, illuminated display that can present system texts or user-defined service data. Environmental ingress is limited by the IP20 protection class, making the device suitable for sealed electrical cabinets. Non-volatile parameter storage is provided by 8 kByte of NOVRAM, complemented by a 2 kByte dual-port RAM that links the CPU to the I/O process image. A positive mechanical latch mates the module to the adjacent CPU, and the K-bus connection is established automatically when the assembly is snapped together.
