The CX5020-0122/000002543 is an embedded controller from Beckhoff placed within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Intended for DIN-rail installation in machine cabinets, the unit combines PC-based control with fieldbus interfaces to run PLC logic, motion tasks, and HMI services in a single compact module. In manufacturing cells, the device executes IEC 61131-3 programs, exchanges real-time data with decentralized I/O, and forwards status information to supervisory networks.

It is driven by an Intel Atom Z530 processor that operates at 1.6 GHz, providing short cycle times for PLC tasks while limiting heat. The main memory is 512 MB RAM, which is adequate for medium TwinCAT projects and file buffering. Two integrated Ethernet controllers expose 2 x RJ-45 sockets, so the PC can isolate machine and office networks or create redundant links. System power comes through a 24 V DC supply terminal, and internal conversion provides the rails for logic, the 2 A I/O feed, and the CompactFlash slot that accepts cards with at least 2 GB capacity.
