The CX1500-M310 module serves as a fieldbus unit for the Beckhoff CX Series embedded computers. This unit facilitates communication via the PROFIBUS DP, DP-V1, and DP-V2 (MC) standards at data rates ranging from 9.6 kbaud to 12Mbaud, and even for extremely demanding applications requiring operation within an industrial setup at very high speeds. The CX1500-M310 bus connection includes 1 x 9-pin D-sub connector and supports connections with a maximum of 125 slaves.

In terms of numbers, the fieldbus module of this type allows any slave to use and create 244 bytes of in, out, parameters, configuration, or diagnostic information, therefore appropriate for even the most complex hierarchy of automation. The unit CX1500-M310 contains the CPU within a computer using an ISA plug and play interface which also utilizes 2kbytes of DPRAM for information transference. The module guarantees effective functioning through a maximum power loss of 1.8 W, as well as low power. Another key characteristic of this DPROFIBUS module is the ability to assign a range of DP cycle times to each slave and provides application specific error handling.

EMC emissions and emissions were also satisfied based on the requirements of the standards, EN 61000-6-2/EN 61000-6-4. Only the software TwinCAT 2 is presented for compatibility. CE / UL certifications back up the safety and quality in this field-bus module. One year warranty is also provisioned by Beckhoff.
