The CX2030-0110 embedded PC is produced by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. This DIN-rail-mountable controller combines processing, fieldbus communication, and operating system resources in a compact module. It can run PLC, HMI, and motion-control applications directly on a machine, removing the need for a separate industrial PC in small and midsize automation systems. Its modular format also allows installation beside compatible I/O terminals in an electrical cabinet.
Processing is handled by an Intel Core i7-2610UE processor with two physical cores operating at 1.5 GHz. The processor supports consistent cycle times for TwinCAT runtime tasks while retaining capacity for supporting Windows processes. The controller includes 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, providing workspace for control logic, recipe data, visualization resources, and temporary buffers. A 128 kB NOVRAM preserves retain variables if the power supply is interrupted. Two RJ45 interfaces support 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet communication and can carry standard Ethernet or real-time EtherCAT traffic. Power consumption does not exceed 27 W under full processor utilization. The enclosure measures 144 × 99 × 91 mm, allowing the controller to fit into compact cabinet layouts without requiring a separate mounting frame.
The front panel provides four USB 2.0 Type A sockets for connecting a keyboard, storage device, camera, or other compatible peripheral without an expansion module. The controller operates from a 24 V DC supply, and internal isolation provides a dielectric strength of 500 V between the supply and logic circuits. Its IP20 protection rating guards against accidental contact with internal electrical parts, but the unit must be installed inside a closed electrical enclosure. Graphics are processed by the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 engine, which uses 128 MB of shared memory. This integrated graphics capability supports a local display for machine visualization and operating interfaces without requiring a separate graphics card.
