The CX9000-A001 is a removable storage expansion produced by Beckhoff for the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Designed as a Compact Flash carrier, it provides non-volatile program and data space to PLCs and HMI nodes so that application software, recipes, and logs can be moved or backed up without opening the controller. Mounted adjacent to the embedded PC, the module complements distributed automation architectures that rely on embedded PCs for deterministic control. Its purpose is to add accessible storage in a format that remains easy to integrate within compact control assemblies.

For data handling, the module presents a Compact Flash Module interface that supports Type I and II CF cards. These cards may only be inserted or removed when the system is off, preventing bus or file system errors. The compact housing measures 19 mm × 100 mm × 51 mm, so it fits directly beside other CX components without widening the DIN-rail footprint. Mechanical integrity has been verified to the shock test of EN 60068-2-27 and the vibration profile of EN 60068-2-6, so the card connection remains stable during transport or continuous machine duty.
