The CX1100-0002 is a power supply and I/O interface module produced by Beckhoff for the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Mounted at the end of a CX CPU segment, the unit delivers field power, handles local K-bus communication, and provides a front panel display so status can be monitored without an external HMI. Within an automation cell, it links the embedded controller to distributed terminals while also protecting the electronics against reverse polarity and overload. This layout keeps the controller and terminal interface in the same compact station on the DIN rail.
The module accepts a supply of 24 V DC and limits internal draw to a maximum of 3.5 W, which helps keep power demand low inside the cabinet. The housing measures 40 x 100 x 91 mm, allowing placement beside standard DIN-rail devices. Wiring is performed through a Cage-Clamp connector that secures conductors without torque settings. Internal insulation withstands 500 Veff of dielectric strength between power and signal domains, and a replaceable blade fuse rated at 4 A protects downstream loads. The front face carries three diagnostic LEDs labeled PWR, I/O Run, and I/O Err, and the display helps show operating states directly on the module. An 8 kByte NOVRAM retains critical variables during power loss, while a 2 kByte I/O DPRAM buffers cyclic process images exchanged with the CPU.
The integrated adapter terminal forms the K-bus interface and can source up to 1.75 A to attached Beckhoff terminals, eliminating the need for a separate power feed. Operators view process data on a backlit screen formatted for 2 x 16 characters, an arrangement that fits short status messages and alarm text without scrolling. The housing is rated IP20, so the unit must be installed inside a closed control cabinet. This enclosure requirement helps protect the module from accidental contact in open machine areas.
