The CX5010-1100 is an embedded PC manufactured by Beckhoff and belongs to the CX Embedded PC Systems series. This fanless unit merges PLC, motion control, and visualization tasks inside a compact DIN-rail enclosure, letting machine builders place PC-based control directly on the equipment without a separate industrial computer. Field I/O is attached on the right side using the K-Bus terminal system.

An Intel Atom Z510 processor running at 1.1 GHz handles real-time logic while the main memory of 512 MB RAM keeps the operating variables and program code resident. Program data and boot files reside on a 128 MB Compact Flash card, which is removable for service. A 24 V supply rail feeds the controller, and the input is protected and rated at 24 V DC. Communication with upper-level networks occurs through two independent Gigabit channels, and auto-negotiation across 10/100/1000 Mbit/s allows the PC to connect to legacy 100 Mbit switches as well as modern 1 Gbit backbones. The backplane can source 2 A so that local terminals receive power without external feeders. A DVI-D interface forwards video signals to touch panels, and the absence of a preinstalled operating system or TwinCAT runtime leaves the user free to load a preferred image.

Total dissipation is limited to 12 W, so forced ventilation inside the cabinet is usually unnecessary. The network stack is exposed on the front through 2 x RJ45 jacks, and removable media, service dongles, or UPS receivers can be attached to its 4 x USB 2.0 connectors. For dielectric separation, the power circuitry withstands 500 Veff between supply and protective earth. Overall dimensions of 100 × 106 × 92 mm keep the footprint small in densely populated control panels, and the 2 A I/O feed simplifies wiring because separate terminal power is not required.
