The CX5140-0140 embedded PC is a compact control unit that links field devices including sensor actuators and I/O modules to industrial software systems. Beckhoff produced this unit which maintains a reputation for sturdy design automatic functionality and easy operation.

The CX5140-0140 embedded PC functions with Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2016 LTSB 32-bit which is delivered without any pre-installed TwinCAT control software. It meets safety classifications cFMus with Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D and Class I, Zone 2, AEx ec IIC T4 Gc suitable for installation in hazardous locations where explosive gases may be present. It complies with EMC immunity and emission standards as EN 61000-6-2 to make it reliable for various industrial automation purposes. The protection level of the hardware is IP 20 which means the unit is protected against solid objects greater than 12.5 mm and is not sealed against liquids. The unit enables simple system configuration through its automatic recognition and adaptation of E-bus and K-bus systems at the integration level.
