The CX5130-0112 is an embedded PC manufactured by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. This compact controller combines CPU processing, fieldbus connectivity, and local I/O coupling so that machine builders can run TwinCAT or other real-time software directly on the DIN rail. By integrating PC technology into the control cabinet, the unit supervises motion, logic, and visualization tasks without requiring a separate industrial computer.
Its computing subsystem is driven by an Intel Atom E3827 dual-core processor operating at 1.75 GHz, and both cores are available to the operating system for deterministic control routines. The controller includes 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, providing sufficient volatile storage for PLC variables, motion tables, and HMI graphics. A discrete 256 MB graphics memory block supports monitor outputs without using the main RAM. The four USB 2.0 ports on the front permit the connection of service tools, mass storage devices, or wireless adapters. A power consumption of only 14 W keeps cabinet thermal loading low. Electrical insulation between the internal circuits and the 24 V supply is verified up to a dielectric strength of 500 V. An IP20 protection rating indicates finger-safe openings and the need for installation inside an enclosure.
Machine-side connections are energized through a 24 V DC supply rail that also powers the embedded PC electronics. The two RJ45 Ethernet interfaces provide separate Gigabit LAN segments for fieldbus, control, or IT networking without requiring external switches. Up to 10 A can be routed through the internal power contacts, and a dedicated 2 A I/O terminal feed supports local digital modules. The housing measures 142 × 100 × 92 mm, allowing it to fit beside other DIN-rail components while maintaining the required current paths and grounding distances. The unit weighs 1,095 g, which limits the mechanical load placed on the mounting rail. Its compact housing consolidates processing, network connections, and local I/O access within the control cabinet.
