The CX2020-0141 is a DIN-rail-mountable embedded PC produced by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. The device integrates an Intel Celeron 827E processor with chipset, solid-state storage, and modular I/O interfaces in a compact housing intended for cabinet installation. Acting as the main station controller, it runs TwinCAT 2 PLC Runtime so that motion, logic, and HMI tasks can be processed directly on the shop floor without a separate supervisory computer.

Processing performance is delivered by a single core operating at 1.4 GHz, suitable for medium-sized control programs and deterministic cyclic tasks. Working data are buffered in 2 GB DDR3-RAM, giving sufficient space for code execution, cache, and visualization objects. Network communication is provided through 2 × RJ45, 10/100/1000 Mbit/s ports, enabling direct linkage to machine-level EtherCAT segments and plant Ethernet backbones. The unit accepts a stabilized input of 24 V DC (-15%/+20%), and its electronics draw up to 21 W during peak operation, which simplifies power supply sizing. Local display devices can be attached to the DVI-I interface that supports a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1200, allowing compact operator panels to present detailed process graphics.

For retention of counters and recipe data during power loss, the controller integrates 128 kB of nonvolatile RAM that is automatically backed by an onboard capacitor. Four external peripherals such as scanners, USB drives, or touchscreens can be connected through 4 × USB 2.0 sockets, and each socket is limited to 500 mA of output current to protect bus power. When terminal blocks are added, the power contacts can route up to 10 A to downstream I/O modules, while a separate 2 A line supplies the system electronics. The K-bus interface handles 2,048 bytes of process data in and out, and the single-core CPU architecture supports deterministic scheduling.
