The Beckhoff CX1000-0100 is a versatile embedded PC from the CX Series, specifically developed to control various applications. This industrial PC has an integrated Pentium MMX processor with a 266 MHz clock rate as a solution that combines performance with energy efficiency to address different industrial applications.
Memory starts with 32 MB of RAM, which is upgradeable to 128 MB for better performance when working with other programs. It has 64 MB of Compact Flash memory storage and an extra Compact Flash type II slot with an ejector for adding more memory to meet the needs of challenging operations. The unit may be easily integrated into existing systems thanks to its connectivity choices, which include one Ethernet RJ45 port and one 9-pin D-Sub for RS232 interfaces. It is compatible with Microsoft Windows CE.NET and Microsoft Windows XP Embedded which allows selecting the best OS for the specific application. The CX1000-0100 is equipped with TwinCAT PLC Runtime or TwinCAT NC PTP Runtime. The system bus is built according to the 16-bit ISA (PC104 standard) which is quite common for embedded systems that use modular expanders. New diagnostic LEDs are located at the front panel and display Power, Link, 100 MBit, LAN Activity, and Flash access to provide system information at a glance. Power is delivered through a system bus with the help of a CX1100 power supply module.
The overall size of the unit measures 57mm x 100mm x 91mm, and the unit itself weighs about 355g, or 435g when fitted with DVI/USB. The cooling is passive, and it is provided through the integrated CX1000-COOL module, which makes it possible to work without active cooling systems. A battery-backed-up internal clock keeps time and date and a Watchdog function is provided for improving system integrity particularly when used with TwinCAT on Windows NT-based systems.
