Product Description:

The CX1500-M310-1001 is a fieldbus interface plug-in manufactured by Beckhoff for the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Mounted on the right side of a CX controller, the unit turns the embedded PC into a PROFIBUS master so the PLC can exchange process and parameter data with decentralized devices used in industrial automation such as valves, drives, and remote I/O racks. By off-loading deterministic bus handling to a dedicated module, it leaves CPU resources free for motion, logic, and HMI tasks.

It presents its master channel through a 1 x D-Sub, 9-pin connector, and the channel count is fixed at 1 for simplified topology planning. Inside the housing, the PROFIBUS controller is accessed by the CPU over a 16-bit ISA interface that sits on the PC/104 system bus. A 2 kB dual-port RAM buffers cyclic I/O images so the host can read or write without handshake delays. The module supports PROFIBUS-DP, DP-V1, DP-V2 (MC) services under TwinCAT 2, allowing acyclic parameterization as well as isochronous motion commands. Per slave station it transfers up to 244 B in / 244 B out, which covers the full PROFIBUS user-data envelope for complex drives or valve terminals.

In larger networks the interface can supervise up to 125 slaves while maintaining the same bus scan time established during configuration. Even at this node count, electrical demand stays low; worst-case consumption reaches only 1.8 W, which simplifies cabinet thermal calculations. The plastic enclosure measures 38 x 100 x 91 mm, fits the CX rail profile, and carries a mass of just 190 g, so additional mechanical supports are normally unnecessary. An IP20 rating confines its use to closed control cabinets where contamination and dripping fluids are absent, and installation is completed by sliding the board onto the PC/104 connector without extra wiring beyond the fieldbus cable.
