The CX5010-1110 embedded PC is produced by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Intended for cabinet installation, the device merges CPU, fieldbus, and visualization resources into a compact DIN-rail form factor. By coupling directly to K-Bus I/O terminals, it acts as the central logic element in conveyor lines, packaging machines, and other decentralized automation nodes where deterministic control and low-power operation are required.

An Intel Atom processor delivers a clock rate of 1.1 GHz, and this frequency provides the execution bandwidth for cycle-time-dependent PLC tasks. The processor family is the Intel Atom Z510, which is selected for low thermal dissipation. Control code runs on a single core, so task scheduling is based on a 1-core architecture that supports real-time determinism. Working data is buffered in 512 MB RAM, enabling motion libraries and HMI objects to reside in memory without swapping. Program and recipe storage is on a 128 MB Compact Flash module, and the solid-state medium withstands vibration better than rotating media. Two RJ45 connectors expose an internal switch so the controller can sit inline on EtherCAT or standard Ethernet segments. The factory image omits a TwinCAT runtime, so the required license level can be loaded separately.

The link speed of 10/100/1000 Mbit/s lets the Ethernet ports serve both modern Gigabit and legacy 100 Mbit networks. The front panel includes 4 × USB 2.0 receptacles for service keyboards, data sticks, or WLAN adapters without external hubs. The logic section draws from a single 24 V DC supply, and onboard converters also provide up to 2 A for the attached terminals through the I/O bus. Additional features include DVI-D video output for local visualization and dielectric strength of 500 Veff between the supply and housing to help protect against field wiring faults.
