The CX5140-0111 is a compact embedded PC produced by Beckhoff for the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Serving as the main controller in distributed automation cells, this model combines PLC logic, motion coordination, and machine visualization in a single DIN-rail-mounted package. The platform can control fieldbus I/O and run user interfaces from one device, simplifying cabinet layouts and reducing wiring in industrial automation.
Performance is delivered by an Intel Atom E3845 processor operating at 1.91 GHz with 4 CPU cores that can run deterministic control tasks and background services in parallel. Application code resides on a CFast or microSD card, while the system operates with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM; this capacity supports sizable logic projects and local HMI databases. For visualization, 256 MB of shared graphics memory handles moderate 2D display loads without a discrete GPU. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports with 2 × RJ45 connections supporting 10/100/1000 Mbit/s link the PC to plant networks or EtherCAT segments. Four downstream ports with 4 × USB 2.0 connections rated at 500 mA accommodate scanners, laptops, or removable media.
