Product Description:
The CX1500-M750 interface module belongs to the CX Embedded PC Systems series from Beckhoff. Designed for industrial automation, this plug-in component equips a CX controller with a dedicated fieldbus channel so it can coordinate drives, I/O terminals, and sensors on a real-time motion network. By placing the fieldbus electronics directly on the embedded PC’s backplane, the module eliminates separate gateways and keeps deterministic communication inside the same control platform. It serves as a specialized expansion card rather than a standalone CPU, relying on the host CX unit for power and configuration.
The module communicates through the SERCOS interface, a fiber-optic serial bus optimized for synchronized drive control. Within that network it operates in Master mode, meaning the CX CPU issues the telegram cycle that every slave follows. Data exchange with the operating system occurs through a dual-port RAM window whose start address is 2000h. Because the memory is marked R/W, both the firmware and user program can write setpoints and read actual values without additional handshaking. System design limits installation to 2 identical CX1500 modules, so redundancy or multiple independent rings can be realized while still observing the backplane load limits.
The housing stands only 100 mm tall, spans 38 mm in width, and projects 91 mm in depth once latched onto the DIN rail. These proportions align with the passive cooling concept of the CX platform and keep clearances for terminal blocks and power supplies. With no external cables on the top or bottom edges, additional bus couplers can be placed directly alongside the unit without violating bending radii. The enclosure from Beckhoff also preserves the overall IP20 rating of a standard CX assembly while supporting vibration resistance consistent with typical machine-mounted controllers.
