The CX1800-0101-0002 is an operating-system image supplied by Beckhoff for the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Installed on hardware in the CX family, it turns the controller into an HMI-ready platform that runs real-time control code while presenting local or remote visualization. By combining Windows CE features with core software components, the image supports deterministic automation tasks as well as user interaction on touch panels and browser-based clients.

The runtime allocates 100 MB of RAM for application execution and caching, giving mid-range CX nodes enough headroom for PLC logic and graphic pages. It ships with the .NET Compact Framework, so managed code can be deployed for field data or supervisory functions without porting to native APIs. Web displays rely on the integrated IE 6.x engine, which interprets HTML and JavaScript generated by the control project. Core services run on Windows CE version 5.0, a build that offers predictable task scheduling and a small footprint suited to flash media. For maintenance and remote access, the image includes an RDP Client, which allows login from a standard Windows workstation without attaching a local monitor.

Network and device exposure are expanded by the web stack, which supports HTTP, ASP, FTP, SNTP so that the CX hardware can serve pages, transfer files, or synchronize time with plant servers. Universal Plug and Play roles include Control Point discovery and Device Host announcements, enabling automatic identification of the controller on segmented automation networks. SOAP messaging is matched to the target hardware because the build is preconfigured for the CX1020, so remote procedure calls map correctly to its I/O and motion libraries without additional image customization.
