Product Description:
The CX2030-0185 is an industrial embedded PC produced by Beckhoff as part of the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Designed for DIN-rail installation, it combines control, HMI, and communication functions inside a compact housing to handle PLC logic, motion tasks, and data exchange in automation cells. An internal battery-backed clock preserves timestamps through power cycles, and the integrated Intel platform provides deterministic computing for distributed fieldbus networks. Its compact format also suits control cabinets where computing, networking, and local visualization must be handled in one device.
It is built around an Intel Core i7 2610UE 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, so two physical cores can manage PLC execution and visualization tasks at the same time. System memory consists of 2 GB DDR3-RAM, which provides space for runtime data, symbol tables, and interface processes. Program and recipe data are stored on a 20 GB CFast Flash Card, a solid-state medium that resists vibration better than rotating drives. For power-failure retention of cyclic counters, the controller carries 128 kB Novram. Networking is handled through 2 x RJ45, 10/100/1000 MBit/s interfaces, allowing separate machine and plant connections, while four USB 2.0 Type A ports and a DVI-I output expand local connectivity. Graphics processing is handled by the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 engine, which reduces CPU load during display tasks.
The controller runs TwinCAT/BSD, while the TwinCAT 3 Runtime environment schedules IEC 61131-3 tasks and motion libraries. During full load, it draws up to 27 W, which helps it fit passively cooled cabinet installations. The electronics are supplied from a single 24 V DC input that matches common control power rails. A housing rated at IP20 limits dust ingress and helps protect against accidental contact, while keeping the main interfaces accessible.
