Product Description:
The model CX8180 is a compact Embedded PC designed for industrial control systems. It supports both E bus and K bus I/O connections. The model integrates communication, control and signal processing in one unit. It is suitable for automation applications with moderate communication and processing requirements.
The Beckhoff CX8180 Embedded PC provides flexible connectivity options. It features one RJ45 Ethernet interface supporting 10/100 Mbit/s. It also includes a 9 pin D Sub socket supporting both RS232 and RS485 serial communication protocols. The unit uses passive cooling for silent and reliable operation. I/O terminals are connected via the power supply terminal with automatic recognition of E bus or K bus types. The maximum power supply for I/O terminals is 2 A while power contacts handle up to 10 A. It supports a maximum of 64 K bus terminals which can be expanded to 255 using a K bus extension. For E bus terminals, it supports up to 65,534 units. The maximum process data handled via K bus is 2 KB for input and 2 KB for output. The Ethernet interface of the model uses 4 x 2 twisted pair Category 5 cables with a maximum cable length of 100 meters. The supported topology is star wiring. Communication over Ethernet supports all TCP and UDP based protocols that are not real time capable and do not require real time extensions.
The CX8180 Embedded PC from the CX series is structured to ensure robust industrial communication and control. It supports both legacy serial connections and modern Ethernet networking. Its serial communication capability allows integration with legacy equipment using RS232 and RS485. It provides adequate power handling capabilities for a range of industrial applications.
