The CX5130-0121 is an embedded PC manufactured by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. This fanless controller combines an industrial CPU module with modular I/O slices so it can execute real-time logic, visualization, and fieldbus communication in compact machinery. Acting as the centerpiece of a decentralized control cabinet, the unit replaces separate PLCs and IPCs by running deterministic tasks directly beside the signal wiring for conveyors, pick-and-place axes, or energy management panels.

The processing layer centers on an Intel Atom E3827 1.75 GHz dual-core processor, and both cores are exposed to the TwinCAT scheduler for deterministic cycle times. System RAM is 4 GB DDR3-RAM, large enough for motion libraries and HMI buffers. Control logic executes under TwinCAT 2 PLC Runtime, allowing IEC 61131-3 languages and distributed clocks. Graphics output is driven by integrated Intel HD silicon clocked at 542 MHz and draws on 256 MB shared memory for local display tasks. Two onboard Gigabit ports, specified as 2 × RJ45, 10/100/1000 Mbit/s, provide EtherCAT in pass-through or redundant ring mode while still leaving bandwidth for MES or SCADA uplinks. Mass storage is supplied through a CFast slot and an additional MicroSD slot so programs and trend data can be separated.

Peripheral expansion uses a 4 × USB 2.0, 500 mA hub to attach barcode readers or service sticks without an external switch.
