The CX8010 is an embedded PC manufactured by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Engineered for DIN-rail installation, the module integrates processing, memory, and communication resources so it can serve as a PLC, gateway, or data logger directly beside machinery. By executing IEC 61131-3 control code, it supervises local digital and analog terminals, exchanges process images with supervisory SCADA layers, and delivers deterministic control without the footprint of a traditional industrial computer.

Processing tasks are carried out by an Arm9 CPU running at 400 MHz. Runtime variables are stored in 64 MB RAM, while system software and user programs reside on a 512 MB microSD card. A 1 MB UPS buffer supports secure data retention during power loss. The controller accepts a nominal supply of 24 VDC and can source up to 2 A to attached I/O slices, while its own power consumption peaks at 3 W. A single RJ45 port operating at 10/100 Mbit/s supports programming and remote access. The housing carries an IP20 rating, so it is intended for protected cabinet environments and relies on natural convection rather than forced cooling.

Total bus demand stays below 10 W, permitting the PC to share a compact 24 V rail with sensors and actuators. Field communication is provided by the integrated EtherCAT Slave interface, allowing the unit to appear as a modular node beneath a higher-level master while still driving inline terminals at microsecond latencies. Mechanical dimensions include a height of 100 mm, along with a width of 64 mm and a depth of 73 mm, which align with other Beckhoff terminal racks and allow zero-gap stacking.
