Beckhoff’s CX Embedded PC Series presents the CX8051-1000 as a compact and high-performance control for numerous industrial automation applications.
With an Arm9™ processor running at 400 MHZ, this unit has a single core for performance that is focused on control tasks. This embedded PC comes with 512MB microSD card flash memory which can be optionally upgraded to support larger applications and data storage. It also has an integrated 64 MB of DDR2 RAM which is not upgradable, to meet the performance/cost ratio. It also has an integrated 1-second UPS stored on the microSD card for backing up critical operations during power failure to protect running processes and data. The programming features are well developed and include support of IEC 61131-3 standard languages, which are used extensively in automation systems. A web interface is provided to manage the system remotely, and the online change allows changing the code during the operation without stopping the system. The system also adopts the efficient code uploading and downloading functionality. Options are available for one RJ45 port for 10/100 Mbit/s network connections, one USB device port concealed by the front flap, and a bus interface with a D-sub connector, nine pins as per the CANopen standard with chassis isolation to protect against electrical noise and interference. The cooling is done naturally and this reduces the number of elements that may fail and increases the life span of the system when used in an industrial setup.
The system status is displayed through TC status and bus status LEDs to facilitate quick troubleshooting and proper operation of the system. There is an internal battery-backed clock that is situated behind the front flap and is removable, so that time for logging and scheduling can be kept accurate.
