The Kollmorgen AKD Servo Drives are a family of single-axis digital servo amplifiers designed for cabinet-mounted motion systems, with variants that cover both compact and higher-power installations and support bus sharing and external braking resistors for regenerative energy management.
They accept a wide range of AC input power depending on model, including 120/240 VAC single- or three-phase options and higher-voltage three-phase operation up to 480 VAC, with defined continuous and peak output current ratings to match different motor sizes. For control integration, the platform supports multiple communication and command options—ranging from analog command solutions to industrial Ethernet fieldbuses—and it can run torque, velocity, and positioning-oriented modes such as gearing and indexing. The drive family supports many common motor feedback types, including resolver and multiple encoder interfaces (including single-cable feedback variants), enabling precise commutation and closed-loop performance across rotary, linear, and induction motor applications. Safety and reliability features include integrated Safe Torque Off rated to SIL2 / PL d, comprehensive fault protection (short-circuit, over/under-voltage, overtemperature, overspeed, feedback loss), and specified industrial operating limits for temperature and humidity.
