It sits between the three-phase line supply and the motor, converting incoming electrical power into the controlled current and voltage needed for closed-loop motion. This arrangement lets the drive regulate position, speed, and torque for coordinated axes in packaging equipment, light machining systems, and automated storage machines. Its compact form also supports mounting close to the axis, which can shorten motor cable runs and simplify routing in densely built equipment. It can therefore serve as the electrical interface between control commands and the mechanical output of the connected axis.
