Product Description:

Kollmorgen servo drives in the AKD series are flexible, feature-rich, and designed to support high-performance industrial applications. With their full-frequency, wizard-based autotuning functionality, these drives can be used to provide precise motor positioning even when deployed in a demanding environment. Kollmorgen AKD drives support option cards that can be used to enhance their processing power or increase the number of inputs and outputs. To improve the drives’ dependability, they monitor the temperature, voltage and current. Apart from added dependability, monitoring the drives’ voltage, current, and temperature allows for timely troubleshooting.

The Kollmorgen AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 is an AKD servo drive that has a compact design, an industry-leading power density, and is robust. It has an international protection rating of IP 20 meaning that it has to be mounted and operated inside a control cabinet that can provide protection against liquids and solids exceeding the size of a human finger. To help in providing optimum performance, the drive shuts down if the temperature inside the control cabinet exceeds 40 degrees Celsius making the drive to fault since the motor has no torque. The AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 has a current rating of 6 ARMS and belongs to the AKD-P subseries of the wider Kollmorgen AKD series.

The AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 has standard USA customizations and supports both EtherCAT and CANopen connectivity options. Because it is impossible to use the two connectivity interfaces at the same time, the drive features the ‘DRV.TYPE’ software parameter to select either of the two connectivity options. With an input voltage rating of between 120 and 240 Volts AC supplied either by a single or a three phase power source, the AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 smoothly fits into the existing industrial power supply network.

Fault / Warning What it means corrective action
F301 Motor overheated Temperature sensor on the motor is above the safe limit. Let the motor cool, improve cabinet airflow or heatsinking, verify ambient ≤ 40 °C, then re-enable.
F302 Overspeed Actual velocity exceeded parameter VL.THRESH.  Lower commanded speed or raise VL.THRESH if the machine allows; reset the fault in WorkBench.
F235 Power-stage over-temperature Heat-sink sensor-1 reports > 85 °C.  Reduce cabinet temperature or load, check fan and drives’ spacing; clear fault after cooldown.
F247 DC-bus measurement error / over-voltage V-bus reading outside valid window (true over-voltage or sensor fault). Verify mains & regen resistor, inspect bus capacitors; replace drive if hardware fault repeats.
F256 Analog-input over-voltage AIN signal exceeds AIN.OVFTHRESH. Check external wiring and signal scaling (±10 V nominal); adjust AIN.OVFTHRESH if required.
F314 Motor phase loss One or more motor power phases open. Inspect X2 connector, cable continuity and clamp screws; correct wiring, then reset.
F417 Broken wire in primary feedback Incremental encoder A/B amplitude too low (open lead/shield). Test continuity, reseat/replace feedback cable, improve shielding and grounding.
F401 Feedback-type fault Selected feedback not detected or wired wrong.  Match FBTYPE to encoder, verify X10 pin-out, power-cycle if still latched.
F245 External fault input active User-assigned digital input has triggered an external fault.  Release or disable the input (DINx.MODE = 10), then write DRV.CLRFAULTS = 1.
F525 Output over-current Phase current exceeded peak rating.  Check for shorts, loose motor leads or aggressive tuning; reduce gains or load before restart.

Error code What it means
F235 Power-stage over-temperature (sensor 1) – drive heat-sink too hot; power stage disabled until it cools.
F245 External-fault input active – a user-configured digital input triggered a fault.
F247 DC-bus voltage measurement error / bus over-voltage – hardware sensor issue or true over-voltage.
F256 Analog-input over-voltage – AIN value above AIN.OVFTHRESH.
F301 Motor overheated – temperature sensor in motor exceeds safe limit.
F302 Over-speed – actual velocity exceeded VL.THRESH.
F303 Run-away / motor foldback – commanded trajectory not followed; drive limits current to protect system.
F417 Broken wire in primary feedback – incremental encoder signal amplitude too low.
F501 Bus over-voltage – DC-bus level above allowable threshold.
F525 Output-stage over-current – phase current exceeded peak rating.

Frequently Asked Questions about AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000:

Q: Does the AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 generate a lot of noise during operation?

A: The AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 is an environmentally friendly device that generates a noise of about 39dB. Most of the noise generated by the drive controller is generated by the interanal air blower present in the controller housing.

Q: is it AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 delivered with a grounding plate?

A: The grounding plate is part of the standard accessoires supplied with the AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 drive controller. Other accessories supplied with the controller include mating connectors, a printed copy of the AKD safety guide and a DVD containing the AKD installation manual.

Q: Can the electrical connections of the AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 be done with third party cables?

A: The use of third party cables for the electrical connections of the AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 is not recommeded. Customers are advice to make separate orders for standardized cables as this will gurantee saftey and preserve the warranty covering the controller.

Q: How can operators minimize the leakage current generated when the AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 is in operation.

A: The leakage current generated when the AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 is in operation can be minimized through the use of low capacity cables and the reduction of the length of the engine cables. The drive should also be properly grounded.

Q: In what environmental conditions should the AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 be operated?

A: The AKD-P00606-NBCC-0000 should always be operated in a contol cabinet that meet at least the IP54 protection class. The environment when the control cabinet is operated should be dry, cool and free of dust and other particles.
