The AKD-P00606-NBAN-0123 servo drive is manufactured by Kollmorgen. Designed for compact control cabinets, the unit converts mains power into regulated three-phase output for brushless servomotors used in packaging machines, gantry stages, and material-handling axes. In addition to torque and velocity loops, the drive supports onboard indexing, allowing simple motion sequences to run without a separate motion card. Discrete I/O and basic network connections let a PLC or industrial PC enable, disable, and monitor the drive while it manages real-time current regulation internally. This arrangement helps the motor respond quickly to changing load conditions during positioning and speed-controlled operation.
The power stage accepts a wide single- or three-phase input of 120 / 240 Vac 1~/3~, which is rectified and filtered before pulse-width modulation is applied to the motor output. The rectified DC bus is then switched at high speed to produce a controlled waveform for the connected motor. Under continuous S1 duty, the input requirement reaches 2.38 kVA, a value used when sizing upstream protection and cabinet heat removal. The current loop can sustain 6 Arms continuously, and it permits peaks up to 18 Arms for five seconds so the axis can overcome inertial loads during acceleration or short disturbances. Command references can be supplied through an analog input, typically as a ±10 V signal, which allows integration with legacy controllers without requiring an Ethernet-based motion network.
Axis coordination is managed by the internal Position Indexer, which stores position tables and executes move commands selected by the higher-level controller. Stored motion blocks can reduce the amount of command traffic needed from the host controller during repetitive moves. The drive keeps a standard footprint and has a mass of 1.1 kg, which helps support high-density panel layouts where spacing and mounting load are limited. It is part of the AKD Servo Drive family, making it suitable for standalone point-to-point motion tasks as well as multi-axis machines that use a separate PLC for sequencing and interlocks.
