The 8MS Three-Phase Synchronous Motors comprise permanently excited, electronically commutated servo motors built for high-performance automation where compact size, low weight, high overload capability, and low torque ripple are required, using NdFeB permanent magnets and a three-phase star-connected winding.
They are designed to run only with ACOPOS servo drives and use sinusoidal commutation with either EnDat encoder feedback (singleturn or multiturn, including normal and high-resolution options) or a resolver for applications with lower precision and speed demands. For simplified commissioning, the motor’s encoder stores key electrical and mechanical data so the drive can automatically identify the motor and apply nominal/limit parameters and current-control settings when connected. The series supports multiple cooling and configuration choices, including self-cooling motors that must be mounted to the flange cooling surface and fan-assisted versions that increase rated and stall torque/current compared to the self-cooled equivalent. Mechanical and environmental options include a smooth or keyed shaft, selectable connection directions, an optional 24 VDC holding brake for holding at standstill (not intended for normal braking), and an optional oil seal that upgrades protection from IP64 to IP65, with a smooth exterior construction intended to avoid liquid-trapping features in washdown-oriented applications.
