Product Description:
The 8MSA2M.R0-I6 is a three-phase synchronous motor produced by B & R Automation for the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. As a compact rotating actuator, it converts drive current from a servo inverter into precise mechanical motion for industrial handling, packaging, and assembly axes. The motor belongs to size code 2 with length code M, giving it a midrange frame that fits directly into modular machine layouts where dynamic yet space-conscious drive elements are required.
This model relies on self-cooling, so no external fan or liquid circuit is necessary to remove heat created by copper and iron losses. Power and feedback cables exit on side B, allowing consistent routing when several motors are installed along a machine bed. Under nominal excitation, the rotor reaches 6000 rpm, a speed suited for fast indexing tables and high-surface-speed tooling. During installation, the housing withstands up to 200 N of axial force without compromising bearing preload, simplifying the mechanical installation of couplings or pulleys. The drive has a medium relative rated torque, balancing acceleration capability against continuous load capacity for general-purpose motion tasks.
Position feedback is handled by a resolver mounted in the stator end bell. The sensor’s nonlinearity stays within ±1 angular minute, and its overall precision across the applicable temperature and speed ranges remains within ±10 angular minutes. The resolver follows the BRX standard used throughout the 8MS platform, enabling direct compatibility with B & R drives. The smooth shaft end permits the use of backlash-free clamping hubs. The motor does not have a holding brake, so static load retention must rely on drive torque or an external lock. No oil seal is fitted, so the motor should be mounted where lubricant migration toward the shaft is controlled or unlikely.
