The 8MSA3M.R0-44 belongs to the 8MS Three-Phase Synchronous Motors series manufactured by B&R Automation. This three-phase permanent-magnet motor is intended for precise speed and position control in packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and other industrial servo-axis applications. Integrated feedback provides the controller with rotor position data for closed-loop motion control, while the holding brake prevents unintended shaft movement when the drive is disabled. The motor operates without an oil seal, which reduces shaft friction but makes the unit better suited to locations with minimal exposure to oil, coolant, or other contaminants.
This model reaches a rated speed of 6000 rpm, allowing high linear feed rates in compact mechanisms. The holding brake provides 4 Nm of static torque to secure vertical loads during a power loss. Heat produced by copper losses is removed through a self-cooling housing, eliminating the need for external fans or liquid cooling jackets. The power and feedback connectors are oriented on the A side, which simplifies cable routing when the motor is installed in a confined machine frame. The motor uses size code 3, corresponding to the flange and bolt-circle dimensions used for this frame.
