Product Description:
The 8MSC5M.R0-D250-2 is a three-phase synchronous motor produced by B&R Automation for the 8MS Three-Phase Synchronous Motors series. It supplies controlled torque and repeatable speed to servo axes used in gantry robots, conveyors, and high-cycle packaging equipment. Electronic commutation allows a compatible servo drive to regulate the motor’s rotation according to commands from a machine controller. This arrangement supports applications that require accurate positioning, coordinated movement, and consistent speed under changing mechanical loads.
The motor supports a continuous operating speed of 3000 rpm under its rated load. A separately cooled housing directs external airflow across the stator to limit temperature rise during extended operating cycles. The power, feedback, and brake connectors have a top-mounted orientation, simplifying cable routing when the motor is installed beneath an overhead wiring path. Mechanical output is transferred through a smooth shaft, which is suited to direct clamping couplings rather than keyed hubs. The motor has a medium relative rated torque, providing balanced acceleration while controlling heat generation within the frame. Length index M indicates a moderate rotor stack for this housing. The assembly does not include a holding brake, so stationary loads must be secured by drive torque or an external mechanism when necessary. It is also supplied without an oil seal because the host machine is intended to provide external sealing where protection from lubricant or contaminants is required.
Position feedback is provided by a BRX resolver, which sends analog rotor-angle information to the connected drive. Resolver nonlinearity is limited to ±1 angular minute, helping the control system track small changes in shaft position. Total resolver precision remains within ±10 angular minutes, supporting accurate closed-loop positioning when the motor is paired with a compatible drive. The motor has size code 5, providing a medium-frame flange that accommodates the feedback device and cooling duct. This flange format fits common mounting arrangements in automated machinery while providing a rigid connection to gearboxes, machine plates, or other driven equipment.
