The 8MSA6X.E0-X200-1 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B&R Automation within the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. The unit functions as a compact drive element for servo axes in industrial automation, providing direct rotary motion where high dynamic performance and repeatable positioning are required. Integrated feedback electronics allow the motor to relay shaft position to the drive controller, making it suitable for closed-loop applications such as pick-and-place gantries, conveyor indexing, and format adjustment modules.
Thermal management relies on a self-cooling housing, meaning heat produced during nominal operation is dissipated through the frame without external airflow or liquid circuits. Position feedback comes from an EnDat optical encoder chain designed for fast digital transmission, and its signal bandwidth remains linear up to at least 100 kHz at the -3 dB point. This bandwidth allows high update rates during rapid acceleration. Absolute angle error does not exceed ±60 arcseconds, allowing the controller to maintain tight tolerances during repetitive movements. Each mechanical revolution is subdivided into 512 lines, and the interpolation electronics translate these lines into fine-grained position data for the drive. Communication uses the EnDat protocol, which transmits digital position information between the encoder and drive controller.
The rotor and stator assembly has motor size 6, providing a frame diameter that balances torque density with manageable mass for gantry axes. The overall stack depth uses length code X, making this version suitable when additional winding volume is needed without increasing the motor cross-section. Torque capability is classified as extra large, allowing the motor to support comparatively high continuous and peak loads before reaching its thermal limits. The encoder provides a single-turn absolute value, which reports the shaft position within one mechanical revolution. This feedback arrangement is suitable for positioning tasks that perform a homing cycle after startup while conserving memory within the feedback unit.
