The 8Msa5s.R0-V401 is a three-phase synchronous motor produced by B & R Automation for the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. In automated production cells, this motor couples to an ACOPOS inverter and converts drive current into rotary motion that positions tooling, feeds material, or indexes conveyors. Its compact size-5 housing and resolver feedback allow precise torque generation without an internal brake, making it suitable for dynamic axes that rely on external holding mechanisms.
The machine delivers a continuous output of 2.45 kW. At the rated operating point, the shaft turns at 4500 rpm and produces 5.2 Nm of torque, while the inverter must supply 5.2 A per phase. Short overloads are supported by a peak torque of 19.8 Nm that draws up to 32 A. The electromagnetic circuit provides a stall torque of 6.6 Nm, and the motor has a torque constant of 1.03 Nm per ampere. A back EMF of 62 V is generated for every 1000 rpm, so the required drive voltage margin rises linearly with speed.
