The 8MSA4L.R0-A4 three-phase synchronous motor is produced by B&R Automation as part of the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. Designed for positioning and speed control tasks in automated machinery, it converts electrical power into controlled torque for axes that require a dynamic response. The compact housing and sealed construction allow the unit to be mounted directly on machine frames without additional protective covers. Its synchronous design supports controlled acceleration, deceleration, and positioning when paired with a compatible servo drive.
The motor has a nominal speed of 4500 rpm, providing high rotational velocity for fast indexing cycles. A self-cooling system removes heat without external fans, reducing the need for auxiliary cooling equipment around the motor. The enclosure carries an IP65 rating, protecting internal components against dust and low-pressure water jets during washdown. A permanent-magnet holding brake delivers 8 Nm of static torque, securing vertical loads when power is removed. Position feedback is supplied by a BRX resolver. This sensor limits nonlinearity to ±1 angular minute and maintains a resolution envelope within ±10 angular minutes, supporting precise commutation under dynamic loads.
