Product Description:
The 8MSC6L.R0-D200-2 synchronous motor is manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. It is a three-phase permanent-magnet unit intended to drive axes that require constant torque and precise speed regulation in industrial automation cells and packaging lines. With a frame size of 6 and length code L, the motor fits midrange power stations while remaining compatible with the manufacturer’s drive controllers.
The power and feedback conductors exit at the top of the housing, simplifying cable routing in cabinets that stack multiple axes. Heat is removed through a separately cooled circuit, so the stator can operate at full load without relying on airflow inside the machine enclosure. Under nominal excitation, the rotor turns at 3000 rpm, matching the frequency range of most B & R inverters and allowing direct coupling to gear stages or belt drives. The motor has a Large torque class, indicating a higher continuous torque capability than smaller members of the series. A smooth shaft end eliminates the need for a keyway and supports clamp or shrink couplings that minimize runout in high-speed applications. No holding brake is installed, so position retention during power loss must be handled by the drive or an external mechanical lock.
Rotor position is measured through resolver feedback, providing rotor-angle information that resists electrical noise and temperature drift. The sensor uses the BRX format found across the B & R 8MS motor family. Resolver nonlinearity is limited to ±1 angular minute, supporting consistent position measurement throughout each rotation. Overall precision remains within ±10 angular minutes, permitting tight velocity control without requiring an optical encoder. Because the motor does not have an oil seal, it should be installed in a clean environment or paired with an external sealing element when exposed to coolant mist or lubricants.
