Product Description:
The 8MSA3M.E1-B4 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B&R Automation for the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. The unit serves as a drive element in industrial automation systems where accurate speed and position control are required. It supplies moderate rated torque to conveyor sections, indexing tables, and similar loads while interfacing directly with compatible AC servo amplifiers during continuous operation. Its synchronous design supports controlled acceleration, repeatable positioning, and stable speed regulation when paired with an appropriate drive.
The motor reaches a nominal speed of 3000 rpm, providing a suitable operating range for many medium-speed automation tasks. Feedback is provided by a high-performance encoder that generates 512 lines per mechanical revolution. Internal interpolation of this raw resolution supports precise velocity and position control by the connected servo drive. The encoder has an angular accuracy of ±60 arcseconds, allowing the controller to maintain close alignment during incremental movements. Data transmission remains stable at an edge frequency of at least 100 kHz at the -3 dB point, supporting rapid feedback sampling. The sensor uses the digital EnDat protocol, which allows the motor and drive to exchange position and parameter data through the feedback connection.
The connection plugs are oriented on side B, keeping the wiring clear of adjacent gear stages and other machine components. During installation, the shaft can withstand an axial force of 200 N, helping protect the bearing set while a coupling is fitted. The multi-turn encoder records absolute position across as many as 4096 revolutions, allowing the controller to retain the machine position after a power cycle. Heat is removed through a self-cooling housing, so the motor does not require an external blower. The motor has size 3 and length code M, providing a medium-length housing within this motor series. Its smooth shaft end supports secure clamping with a suitable coupling and avoids the clearance associated with a keyed connection. The motor is supplied without a holding brake, so stationary loads must be retained by drive torque or an external mechanism. It also has no oil seal and is intended for installations where shaft sealing is unnecessary or provided by the connected equipment.
