Product Description:
The 8MSA3M.R0-72 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B & R Automation as part of the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. Designed for industrial automation, it drives mechanical loads that demand repeatable positioning and constant velocity, serving conveyor sections, gantry axes, and packaging spindles. The unit connects to ACOPOS servo drives by means of a resolver feedback link, enabling closed-loop control without external sensors. Its compact frame and medium torque rating support installations where available space and motor footprint are limited.
During continuous operation, the rotor can reach a nominal speed of 3000 rpm, setting the electrical frequency range required from the drive and the mechanical speed ceiling of connected equipment. Heat is removed through self-cooling, so no external fan or liquid circuit is needed, simplifying maintenance. The housing carries an IP65 rating, providing dust-tight construction and protection against low-pressure water jets. Power and feedback cables exit on side A, which aids wiring when the motor is mounted on bulkheads or gearboxes with limited rear clearance. The motor has a smooth shaft end, facilitating direct coupling with clamping hubs or precision collets. Additional attributes include motor size 3, length code M, a medium continuous torque classification, an integral oil seal that blocks lubricant migration, and the absence of a holding brake to minimize inertia.
Installation loads are accommodated by a permissible axial force of 200 N, allowing moderate thrust during coupling without risking bearing damage. Position feedback has resolver linearity of ±1 angular minute and absolute precision of ±10 angular minutes; these values are associated with the manufacturer-specific BRX resolver type integrated into the motor. The resolver supplies the drive controller with stable angular information despite vibration or temperature changes, supporting accurate commutation and torque regulation throughout the operating cycle.
