Product Description:
The 8MSA4L.R0-44 three-phase synchronous motor is produced by B&R Automation and belongs to the 8MS Three-Phase Synchronous Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop motion axes where compact power density and tight speed regulation are required. In automated cells, the unit connects to a compatible servo drive through resolver feedback, delivering consistent torque for indexing tables, feed rollers, and multi-axis gantries. Its synchronous design supports controlled acceleration, accurate positioning, and stable speed under changing mechanical loads.
The motor routes power and feedback cables from the A side of the housing, simplifying cable runs where installation space is limited. Heat is removed by a self-cooling design, so no external blower or liquid cooling circuit is necessary. Under nominal operating conditions, the rotor reaches 6000 rpm, supporting fast positioning cycles and machinery with high-speed motion requirements. A built-in holding brake supplies 8 Nm of static torque to secure vertical or suspended loads whenever motor power is removed. Position data is generated by a resolver, which supplies sinusoidal feedback signals for commutation and closed-loop motion control. Its absolute angular error remains within ±1 angular minute, allowing the drive to track rotor position accurately during rapid acceleration and deceleration.
The mechanical output interface uses a smooth shaft that accepts clamp or wedge couplings without the stress concentrations associated with a keyway. The resolver follows the BRX format and has a precision of ±10 angular minutes, making its signal format suitable for drives that support this feedback scaling. Size code 4 and motor length L provide a moderate inertia profile that balances dynamic response with load capacity. The relative rated torque is classified as large for this frame, making the motor suitable for axes that require greater torque within the available housing size. The shaft does not include an oil seal, so the installation area should remain free of process fluids that could enter along the shaft journal. Standardized mounting geometry supports integration with compatible couplings, machine plates, and drive components used across the 8MS platform.
